Loerie Student Awards

  • Mikeala Marques awarded a Loerie in 2016 (Honours in Interior Design)
  • Stephan Meissner awarded a Loerie in 2016 (3rd year Graphic Design)
  • Bianca Rodrigues a finalist in 2016 (2nd year Interior Design)
  • Leandra Levenderis (3rd year Interior Design), Goodman Muzanenhamo, James Vodden (3rd year Graphic Design) and Caitlin Sloane (Honours Visual Communication) represented GDC at the student portfolio day
  • Roberto Zambri awarded a Loerie in 2015 (Honours Interior Design)

Haute Lumiere student Competition

  • Idalina Silva finalist and waiting for final judging in 2016 (3rd year Interior Design)
  • Astrid Haarhoff placed in top 5 in 2015 and given R1000 to build a prototype (3rd Year Interior Design)
  • Claudine Park is overall winner in 2014, wins a trip to Sweden, and her light scheme is is buil and displayed at Cape Town Waterfront
  • Amy Phillips is the overall winner in 2013, wins a trip to Sweden, and her light is built for the 2014 Fashion week.


Goldpack Student Packaging Awards

  • Birgitta Le Roux is a finalist in 2015, and received a Merit award at the WPO WorldStar Student Awards held in America (3rd year Graphic Design)
  • Eva Holstvig-Faerch is a finalist in 2015 (3rd year Graphic Design)
  • Kimm Ford is a winner in 2013 (3rd year Graphic Design) and received a Merit award at the WPO WorldStar Student Awards held in America (3rd year Graphic Design)
  • Kimberly Clift is a finalist in 2013 (3rd year Graphic Design)
  • Grant Webster is a finalist in 2013 (3rd year Graphic Design)


PG Bison Student of the Year Award

  • Roberto Zambri is a finalist in 2014 (3rd Year Interior Design)
  • Amy Phillips placed 3rd in 2013, and there are three other GDC finalists (3rd year Interior Design)


Poster for Tomorrow

(annually the competition receives around 5000 entries from around the globe. The top 100 are selected to be part of a travelling exhibition)

International Society of Type Designers

(Worldwide the pass rate for this competition is 30%)

  • Matthew Price receives a merit (distinction) in 2013
  • Three GDC students completed the competition in 2014: Carla Saunders, Caitlin Sloane (Honours Graphic Design) and Ryan Honeyball (3rd year Graphic Design). 

Kolding Design MasterClass in Denmark

(internationally renowned DesignSkole in Denmark hosts a week’s design camp. GDC students join 25 other international master students from around the world such as Pratt Institute, Emily Carr University, Tongji University in Shanghai etc. together with master students from Kolding Design School. Two or three GDC Honours students have attended for the last four years.


The Department of Trade and Industry’s Furniture Design Competition.

Julia Mackintosh was awarded first prize in 2016. She and another GDC finalist, Natalie Celliers, were flown down to Cape Town by the DTI to attend the awards ceremony.

 

Zang Cholocate Fresh Idea Competition

Gaylin Steenkamp placed  as a finalist in 2016 (3rd year Graphic Design)


Cobra Product Design Competition:

Based on the submissions of 2nd year Interior Design Students, GDC was awarded the Institute Winner in 2015


World Skills South Africa

Caitlin Ward represented South Africa for Graphic Design at the International World Skills Competition in Brazil in 2015.


 
SA Innovations Award

GDC’s was a finalists in the SA Innovation Awards 2015 for the 10Percent Initiative. The awards were presented at a gala dinner attended by more than a 1000 people

EduCad South Africa Student Showcase:
