Jennifer Kopping

HOD: Design Thinking

MA FA (Wits)

Jennifer has a passion for the visual arts and education. Her own art training has been a circuitous route driven by a desire to create and to discover. Her initial training was as a primary school special needs and art educator. Several years later she studied through the University of South Africa for a Fine Arts degree whilst raising a family and in 2005 completed a Masters Degree in Fine Art under the late Professor Alan Crump. This academic and personal journey taught her that learning is lifelong and that the visual arts are a gateway to individuation and connectedness to the world. This desire to engage with a wider creative community has led her to write several articles, papers and presentations on art and design in the United Kingdom, Italy, Belgium, New Zealand, Asia and France. She has also appeared in several magazines such Habitat and Top Billing where her home, mosaic and art were featured. Jennifer has participated in solo and group exhibitions and is a past recipient and winner of the New Signatures Award and has also been placed twice in the top ten at the Ekurhuleni Art Awards. She has works in various private and corporate collections such as Telkom, Sasol, UNISA, Absa and Liberty Life.
