BA Hons Graphic Design (GDC)

Melanie completed a Higher Diploma in Graphic Design and Marketing specializing in Graphic Design at the AAA School of Advertising Johannesburg, South Africa. To complete her studies an internship took her to Hamburg/Germany starting her career as a graphic designer. On her return to South Africa Melanie started work at Design Aid, a small graphic deisgn studio based in Greenside that saw her working on exciting brands such as Audi and Volkswagen, Salga and Umsubumvu. I 2003 Melanie took on a new challenge and enrolled as an honours student at the Greenside Design Center to broaden her horizons. Through this Melanie was introduces to the world of lecturing and ultimately took on the challenge as graphic design lecturer in 2004. Melanie is passionate about her love for typography and as a member of the international society of typographic designs she tries to instill this passion in her students. Her love for various Media experimentation and type sees her looking at David Carson’s deconstructed designs for inspiration. In 2009 Melanie and a fellow/student and now colleague at Design Center, Jacqueline Middleton decided to bring fun back into Design by taking Graphic design to new platforms. By using these fundamentals of Graphic Design and applying them to new various media their Company Adaptations was born. ADAPTATIONS create decor that is conceptually driven, using graphic design concepts to elude an ever changing environment within living spaces. Adaptations strive for a sustainable design outcome by providing products that enhance a think green design green output. Adaptations have exhibited at Decorex Johannesburg in 2009. As well as at SA Fashion Week and have appeared in various magazine publications in 2010.
